Kale was a lot of fun this week, doing all kinds of hilarious things. He became best friends with a toothbrush, refused to wear clothes 99.9% of the time, and began uncontrollably pointing at, well, EVERYTHING.

Monday morning I decided to walk to my meeting downtown so that Kris and Kale could have the car. Plus, I've been struggling with fitting exercise into my new life as a working mom, so figured the walk would do me some good. The walk downtown is about 30 minutes from our house, so I got up a little early, downloaded the latest Democracy Now! podcast, and was ready to hit the pavement. Just as I was leaving Kale had a MAJOR poop explosion. I couldn't tell who had more poop on them - Kris or Kale. I couldn't leave them hanging, so I dropped my stuff and helped strip down Kale and get him in the tub to clean off (those are his poop covered pj's hanging over the edge of the tub in the second picture). Attempt #2 and I was out the door only to be greeted by a beautiful sunny day of -20 (-6 you Americans!). Of course I picked one of the coldest days of the year to walk.... Anyway, it was a nice walk and when I got stuck waiting for this train to cross I was totally taken aback by the beauty of the day and the silence (yes, the train was loud - but nothing compared to the noise Kale can unleash).
On Tuesday Kris's mom invited us over for dinner and I was so thankful because I did NOT feel like cooking. I somehow forgot to take a single photo - oops! I really should have snapped some at dinner because it was the first time that Kale ate kale.
Wednesday was a work from home day and so I get to spy on Kris and Kale all day doing cute things like napping and reading books together.
Thursday was another work from home day and I'd run out of excuses not to go to the gym. I had full intentions of going at 6:30am, but the fact that I made it for 7:30am still kind of amazes me. I did some cardio and then hit up the light weights and exercise ball. I'm not going to admit how much my muscles hurt the next day.
The bottom two photo's are of Kale waking up and Kale eating. Apparently both things illicit the same expression.
TGIF.
Friday was a good work day because the office was quiet and I managed to get a lot done. I came home at lunch and nursed Kale right away and he immediately fell asleep so we didn't get much of a lunch visit. I went back to work and celebrated the end of the week with a coffee and a blondie brownie. What? I went to the gym on Thursday!
Kale was pretty happy to have me home at the end of the day. That and he likes seeing himself on the camera.
When I come home at the end of the day I demand a play-by-play of the entire day from Kris. Seriouslyy - I don't know how he puts up with me. I want to know how much milk Kale had, what he ate, how many poops he took, how long he slept for, who came over, where they went, what they did - basically everything. If he could tell me the number of breaths Kale took from the time I left to the time I came home, I'd want to know that too. Anyway, I'm really glad that Kris is participating in these weekday updates because he takes great photo's and I get to see little snippets of their time together, along with you guys. So, without further ado - here are papa's pictures, with papa's commentary:
Papa’s pictures
(1)This is Kale going ape on the curtain! Sometimes the cat sits on the windowsill and Kale sits as close as he can to the wall and just flails, shakes and hollers at the cat. Its hilarious to watch and it seems to keep him very entertained. It is normally followed by the cat jumping down and running for dear life to get away from the crazy kid!
(2)This was Kale waking up from a nap. I don't think there are many things better than a nap wake up (unless I am napping with him, then there aren't many things worse) he just sits there looking all dopey and confused. Its like everything he sees is brand new and hes super happy to be awake! AWESOME!
(3) Kale and I went to the early years center on Monday for a hang out. We had fun and will be returning every week! (except this week, I'm working like a sucker) I had never been to any classes with Kale, so it was a learning experience for us both! We had a ton of fun, so much so that I forgot to take any pictures and remembering that as we left, took a picture of the sign....lame.
(4) Kale loves to be naked. Everything is 100x funnier when he is.
(5)Here is an example of Kale's out of control hands pointing. He was just zipping around following the cat from room to room, then he came around the corner and saw the kitchen light. I changed 2 light bulbs while he watched and i think this may have been the catalyst for the point-o-rama our house has become!
(7) Kale has been eyeing up my toothbrush since day one of my paternity leave. I would sit him on the floor and sit beside him while I brushed my teeth, and Ithen let him hold onto it and check it out. He gradually took it over and in this case, wouldn't put it down as he was falling asleep. Every time I tried he'd wake up and freak, so I let him nap with it. I had to keep a close eye on him so he didnt flail and knock any eyeballs out!

ReplyDeleteI love this! And I want a blondie brownie :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think Kale and Ollie are joined at the brain. Ollie just started incessant pointing this week too! And I'm indulging it by taking him everywhere he points. And getting exhausted.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading dad's perspective! You guys should do this more often!
