#janphotoaday
Fat Mum Slim started a photo a day challenge on Instagram. I think everyone I follow on there is participating and it's a lot of fun to check out the hashtag everyday to see what people from around the world are posting. There is a list of subjects/topics/inspirations to follow and they can all be found here. Here are my photos from this week:

2012 Declutter Calendar
If you're on pinterest you've probably seen the 2012 Declutter Calendar. Hosted by My Simpler Life, the calendar gives a short decluttering task for every day of the year. I know a few other bloggers - Adventures of an Infertile Mommy & Adventures of Wee Mason Man - that are following and we're trying to keep each on track by doing regular check-ins. This weeks task were:
1. Think about who you want to be this year
2. Set up a donation station
3. Declutter the top of your cabinets and dust
4. Declutter the top shelf of one of your cabinets
5. Go through your spices to discard expired and old ones
6. Put all your cans together on a shelf
7. Go through your freezer to let go of old, freezer burned food
I'm happy to say that I managed to get all of these tasks done! I'd usually do it after I put Kale to bed or when I was finished the dishes from dinner and most only took 10 minutes (the spice sorting was a much bigger job!). I really love the donation station idea because it's cleared up so much clutter from the entryway and the top of our dresser. I'm actually looking forward to following this calendar and hope that I can stick with it.
Menu Planning
I've actually been menu planning for a long time, but thought that I would start sharing my weekly menu on the blog. I'm always looking for new ideas and new food blogs to follow, so please leave your suggestions! Next week I'm hoping to link up with Lisa at lovealcubo. Her menu's are about 100x better than mine, so you should check her out!
On the menu this week:
Garlic Bacon Artichoke Pizza - Food o' del Mundo
Honey Glazed Chicken Sandwich - Season with Spice
Cajun Chicken Pasta - To Food with Love
Shredded Beef Tacos - Cooking Classy
Quinoa Vegetable Stir Fry - Savvy Vegetarian
Ole' Chicken Skillet - Natural Noshing
I'm going to do my best to take some photo's to share next week, along with a little review of each meal.

I love this! Way to keep yourself accountable! I'm doing the photo-a-day challenge, too, just posting it on the blog on Saturdays since I am a non-Smart phone user. I need to get with the times...I used to meal plan and have slacked off, you reminded me to start again so thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same mocassins (I think) are they American eagle? If so, love em. I can't wait to read your meal reviews and steal the recipes if they get your thumbs up. Trev and I just sat down with our cookbooks to do some first ever meal planning.
ReplyDeleteyou rock! I did my weekly check in too and I did *okay. I hope I do better this week.
ReplyDeleteAlso I love looking at your daily pictures!
OK - so when we have a date next can you please explain to me how to do a meal plan?! I have tried to do this endlessly with no success. HELP ME!!!
ReplyDeleteCute! I love your menu and the instagram. I have to check out the pinterest challenge too, although given how tiny our condo is, decluttering might not be in the works for us unfortunatley...but I'm pretty jealous of those who can and do~
ReplyDeletei hear you on the failure to live up to my blogspectations. i'm drowning in chaos right about now -- trying to at least stay afloat with my blog. it's so crazy how the things i love, i never seem to have time for {except cooking and only because i'm obsessed with eating}.
ReplyDeletemy computer is significantly slower because i have a gazillion photos saved that i keep meaning to upload.
i'm doing the meal planning every week -- but forget to take photos, or forget to upload them and then time passes and boom, it's too late.
anyways.. enough about me -- this was a great post, as always. I really enjoy reading your posts... in fact i read your posts more than i write my own!
ps. now that you're on board for the menu planning it will motivate to keep going =)
pps. did i just psycho-blab?!
