For MONTHS its been pretty much impossible for me to snap a picture of Kale. As soon as I pull my camera out, he sprints toward me, pulls the camera from my face, and demands to look at the view screen while simultaneously jamming away at every.single.button on my speedlight. This all happens in about 3.2 seconds and, at best, I end up with a close up of his left eye and three fingers as he dashes toward me.
We let him use our old point and shoot, but we were running through batteries way too fast. I then bought him a plastic toy camera, which he uses, but insists on being about 1mm from your face (or the cats face) with it to take a shot. It wouldn't be a problem, but when you click the button, a little clown pops out the front and punches you in the nose.
Anyway, yesterday Kale suddenly got the idea that I should take his picture. I was thrilled because I literally have three pictures of him looking at the camera from the last 6 months (the rest are all of him doing something that's distracting him or sleeping). So when he asked "mama? mama? ic-ture?" - I happily obliged.
Of course, Kale still has the most beautiful smile in the world......
On a side note, we do dress him - we're just in the midst of attempting toilet training, so be happy he's wearing anything at all.
Kale also requested I take pictures of the following (a few of his favourite things):

Bubbie the cat.

Kale cleaning his vacuum.

Pingu crackers.

Coffee. He doesn't drink it - but loves to help make it.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for my blog this week!!! Don't be afraid to, um, you know - do it again.

Such a cutie pie! Hannah makes that exact same face and yells "CHEESE!" when I take pictures of her.
ReplyDeleteIf these smiles stick around, it'll make for some very interesting school photo's one day!
DeleteVoted! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine!!
DeleteSo for my birthday I would like a framed photo of kale in his undies. Is that weird? It's probably weird. But that picture makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteThis would be totally creepy if it came from anyone else, but you put bow tie's on your cat and stalk Kevin with me, so it's ok.
DeleteAdorable! And the thought of getting punched in the face by a little clown camera made me laugh out loud this morning.. so thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI love that Kale wanted you to take a picture of the coffee pot. Ollie is totally into coffee too - helping make it, ordering it in restaurants (kind of embarrassing) and trying to sneak tastes whenever he can. I guess they pick up on how important it is to tired mums and dads!
Kale thinks grinding coffee is the best thing ever. He also enjoys forcing me to drink it by shoving the mug toward my face and demanding "drink! drink!"
DeleteHowever, things get confusing since my in-laws have a dog named coffee.
Also, he calls (both the dog and the drink) "hockey."
Oh, the mind (and the verbal skills) of a toddler...
Too cute! I LOVE the squinty-eyed smile. And I love that Kale loves making coffee. Elle always exclaims "Yay, copy!" - I think she knows that it brings Mommy great joy :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, these cheese pictures make me laugh and laugh. Soooooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to when Mason will look at the camera again LOL
the photo of you with your actual cam gave me a pang of guilt... since instagram came into my life my beloved Pentax and 4 month old not-so-cheap lens has been sitting in the cupboard like Woody from Toy Story desperate for some attention. I think I'll follow your lead, dust it off and show it some love this Feb. I've been voting for you momma. Xo
ReplyDeleteHis smile really is the most incredible thing, what a precious boy!!!
