Currently Link Up {v.2}

Can you believe that 18 people participated in our first 'currently' link-up last week?! I think it's going to be a tough record to break, but Wendy and I are up for the challenge! I really did enjoy reading all your posts last week (especially finding out what everyone is cooking!!). I particularly enjoyed those of you that included what your little one's are currently up to and so I'm going to follow suite this week.

Our themes this week are:

  • reading
  • loving
  • eating
  • drinking
  • looking forward to
Of course, you are more than welcome to use your own themes and still link up! Don't forget to add your link at the bottom and to copy and paste the button code into your own post so people can find their way back here and read all the other posts!

Kale

Reading. 'Making the Moose out of Life.' It's almost been a full month since our trip to Great Wolf Lodge, where a giant electronic moose lives in the lounge/foyer. Despite being terrified of the moose when we were there, Kale developed a major crush and has been talking a lot about that moose the last few days. So when I saw this book, I knew Kale would love it and I was spot on. We read it twice in the backseat of the car on the drive home from the bookstore.

Loving. His new lunch containers. Right now Kale's lunches are included in his school fees, but this summer he will have to pack a lunch for camp. I got these great stainless steel containers by LunchBots and this great new lunchbox. Oh but here's a hot tip - if you buy these products, it's a good idea to remove the price tag before your other half sees. It's unlikely they'll agree that your kids lunch stuff that they will likely lose on day one is worth the price.

But we were talking about what Kale loves! So yeah - he loves it all. He took his snack tray out and dutifully filled the containers of his LunchBot and then strapped his lunchbox on, hopped on his plasma bike and told me he was going shopping. This kid is so cool.

Eating. When I ask Kale what he wants to eat, he tells me one of three things: pizza, popsicle, egg. This is clearly a balanced meal. Luckily, he doesn't give me a hard time when something else shows up on his plate.

Drinking. Ever have your two year old walk into the living room carrying a jug of water that weighs more than him and ask you "cold water, please?" It's one of those moments where I was simultaneously proud because he helped himself but terrified because I was sure that in 0.3 seconds my floors are going to be soaking wet.

Looking forward to. Nice weather. After gorgeous weather in May, we're all having a hard time adjusting to the cool temperatures and rain that June has brought on. Kale, of course, wants to spend his days naked in the backyard kiddie pool, so he's looking forward to Sunday when we're expecting high temperatures and sunshine!

Reading. Pre-Kale I was a very avid reader - easily a book a week. This was on top of what I was reading for school and work. Once Kale arrived, it was all about the parenting books and once my maternity leave finished, it was back to reading statistics and government reports. I think I've read two "for pleasure" books since having Kale. So today when I was cruising the bookstore, killing time before a meeting, and saw Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened, I picked it up! I LOVE her blog and cannot wait to get started on the book tonight!

Loving. Mad Men. This weeks episode was good, but last weeks?! It's in competition with Season 4 Episode 7 - The Suitcase. I have plans to watch both episodes back to back this weekend and make a decision. If you think I should wear this while drinking old fashioned, then I think you have very good ideas.

Eating. The homemade granola bars Kale and I made on Sunday. Not only because they're yummy, but because the recipe made 28 bars and told me they were only good for three days. I'm sure they'll be fine on day four and five, but even still, that means among the three of us, we EACH have to eat almost two a day. Oh what, I should share? That's not a skill I want to pass on to my two year old..... errr... hmmm....

Drinking. Uh...I had a coffee today? Seriously, I'm a human camel. Not only do I forget to drink, but I actually don't like drinking. And I don't mean alcohol, I mean LIQUID. I know, not good. I'm going to go drink a glass of water right now...hold up.

Looking forward to. This week being over. It's a tough one at work and I'm desperate to put it behind me. Things should tone down a little at work after this week and stay that way until September. I'm pretty sure I said that last summer too and that didn't pan out well. A girl can dream though, right?

Next weeks themes:

  • working on
  • dreaming of
  • planning
  • thinking about
  • obsessed with

  1. I'll join you watching Mad Men wearing this http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-1531-one-for-my-baby.aspx

I am so glad you started watching this. I love almost every episode. I was sad that I watched the first three seasons in under a month. I should have prolonged that.

    1. Good choice on the dress!! We should probably have thought this through in advance - we could have had a mad men themed party for the season finale. And by party I mean - you and I could have got drunk and dressed up and watched it while the guys bromanced and Kale snored on the couch.

  2. Where do you guys go to watch this stuff online?

Also, I too dislike drinking liquids - what's up with that? I'll go two full days before realizing that I haven't had a glass of water yet. I do like the coffee and the wine though :)

    1. We have AppleTV and can stream new episodes through it. Thank goodness, because like Emily, I watched four seasons in about a month.

    2. I watched them on NetFlix. We don't have AppleTV. But we should.

  3. Those granola bars look amazing! We have a Great Wolf Lodge where I grew up in the Poconos but they built it when I was older so I have never been there.

  6. Just getting around to reading everyone's posts. Such fun! I'm loving the eating and drinking themes. And I'm like you, I could go a whole day without drinking. But then I always get awful headaches.

  7. I am really enjoying this link up and hearing what everyone is up to :) It's awesome that Kale is requesting water! Also unlike you I would rather drink drinks all day long than eat. My mom says I was born in a drought year and that I've always been this way.

  8. Haha -- Seba always says "egg" when I ask him what he wants to eat. Egg and/or bread with cream cheese. I can't believe how grown-up our boys are getting. I love this stage of them blabbing non-stop!!
I was an avid reader before Seba came along as well. I'd say I was addicted to books... now I can barely get through one... A YEAR! I had such a crazy, busy, insan-o week.. going to try writing my currently post now!

  9. I've been meaning to pick up Jenny Lawson's book, I've heard it's hysterical! And I need to get with Mad Men already! I think I'm the only person on the planet NOT watching!!
