Kale is welcoming you all in Portuguese this week because EuroCup2012 still has a hold on my television and I cheer for the team with the best looking players (Portugal, obvi.).

If this post doesn't make sense, we're going to blame the heat, ok? Today was 40C with the humidex (that's a 104F for the Americans) and I'm pretty sure my internal temperature is about 108. Celsius. I came home and ran through Kale's sprinkler with my work clothes on. So obviously I'm drinking cold beer to cool down.

The low-down: Use our themes, use your own themes - just tell us what you're "currently" up to! This week our themes are: making, listening to, craving, writing, and laughing at. If you'd like to let us know what someone else is currently up to - your child, your partner, your grandma - we like that too!

Please remember to add your link at the bottom so we can find you, and copy and paste the button code into your post so others can find us and link up too! Also, be sure to visit the other participants and say hello!!

Making me crazy. No, really, it's like he doesn't feel the heat despite the enormous amount of sweat dripping off him. He's all 'hold me, nurse me, sleep cuddled up to me.' Dude - you're hot, I'm hot, let's keep some distance between our hot, sticky skin.

Listening to his teachers and only his teachers. This morning I went to Kale's class so the kids could help me with an end of year gift for his teachers. The Director came with me and we kicked the teachers out for a few minutes. All of the kids were wearing inflatable rings around their waists that their teachers had given them as an end of year gift. The Director asked the kids to take them off while we worked on a project and they all obliged, except Kale. I suggested he follow their lead, but he refused. I did the silent eye beg. I whispered a bribe in his ear. Nothing. Then the Director said "oh Kale, why don't you take your ring off?" and he was all, "THAT'S THE BEST IDEA EVER!!"

Craving 'ola bars. Not the healthy kind either. The chocolate covered cheap ones that Kris eats everyday with his lunch. Remember when we were all new moms and we said we wouldn't ever feed our kids processed junk? Hah!

Writing imaginary notes. We're 99% sure Kale is left handed since he holds a pen with his left hand like a pro. Where do they learn this stuff??? Kale will write a note on every scrap piece of paper, receipt, or bill he can find.

Laughing at the sprinkler. He thinks it's pretty hilarious.

Making a special end of year gift for Kale's teachers. Since I'm not crafty at all, I had to cruise pinterest and etsy for some simple inspiration. It only took me 900 hours to replicate something that would take a normal person 10 minutes. I'm going to share it next week for my Montessori Monday post.

Listening to CBC radio (duh). It's all I listen to (I mean, the odd time I listen to Kris talking to me - but mostly it's just the CBC). Tonight I said to Kris, "you know that "call me maybe" song? I see people tweet about and see it mentioned online and stuff and how it's played all the time - but I've never even HEARD it." I hear the girl that sings it is Canadian, which means the CBC can play it because it's Canadian content - I guess we're just not the right crowd.

Craving cold beer. Iced Americano's. Popsicles. Frozen yogurt.

Writing blog posts. Recaps of rental market reports. Meeting minutes (shoot me). Lists for camping this weekend. Thank you notes to Kale's teachers (waaaahhh).

Laughing at Kale running through the sprinkler. I mean, what's more funny than a naked two year old dashing through a sprinkler wearing an inflatable ring shaped like a turtle around his waist (photos to come).

  1. I wish Emmet were less aware of the heat too! He will only play outside for a bit now and this mama is running out of ways to keep him entertained inside already. We have nearly 3 months of summer heat left! AHHH. So sweet of you to have the kids help with the teachers gift. Can't wait to see it!

  2. That does sound cute about the sprinkler!! Such a great summer memory! My youngest is a lefty and that's how she was with the crayons and pens. We could definitely tell from a young age. The rest of us are righties but it wasn't that hard to teach her things like tying her shoes and crocheting.

"silent eye beg" that cracked me up!

  3. So funny that you mention "Call Me Maybe", I have the same problem with popular songs - if it isn't on CBC's rotation, it doesn't exist. But I got curious about the whole "I just met you, and this is crazy" meme that I was noticing on Twitter, so I looked into it last night and now I have that song on a continuous loop in my head. I almost prefer the random latin music the CBC is always trying to inject into my brain...

  4. Yay a lefty! I can show Kale how to not get pen all over your hands when you're writing lots, when he gets bigger!

  5. You might want to watch/listen to this and then jump in your car and pick me up so we can sing it together. I feel like it's impossible to not hear this song. What's up with yon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWNaR-rxAic

  6. Hold on: Chris still eats the chocolate covered 'ola bars?! hahaha... haven't had one of these bad boys in FOREVER... but I'm almost positive that thanks to this post I will be buying them by the end of the week. damn!
Seba is all about the hugging now as well. It's hot, I know -- but for some reason (pregnancy?!) I am extremely tolerant of his hot body hugging mine lately. I keep giving him kisses.. like I mean the kisses a toddler gives to his newborn sibling... you know: the over and over and over ones? ya, I'm annoying. hell Seba is probably like you thinking "get the heck off me mom!"
Ya I'm craving cold beer as well. Sucks. And I'm going to hold out on getting gifts for Seba's teachers in hopes that I can completely copy your brilliant DIY (don't worry, I'll give credit!)

  7. I love Kale's hat. We tried to get Cole to try on a hat like that at the outdoor store, but he absolutely refused!
