THIS WEEKS THEMES:
Missing, Craving, Anticipating, Thinking about, Singing

BEFORE WE BEGIN.......
Whether you've been linking up for the past few weeks or are new here, Wendy and I are looking for a little feedback. If you don't mind taking a second to let us know in the comments, we're wondering:
  1. Do you like linking up every week (or having the option to), or would doing once a month or every other week make it easier?
  2. Are any of you interested in co-hosting - possibly on a rotating schedule?
  3. Do you like having different themes every week, or would you prefer to have the same, traditional ones every week (i.e. reading, listening to, wishing, etc.). If you like a consistent set of themes, what are your favourites?
Now let's get on with it, shall we?

Kale is currently.....

Missing Papa and Nana. As much as he loves having me home this week, he still asks for his Nana and Papa several times a day.

Craving the iPad. Kid is addicted. I usually let him play with it in the morning while I'm struggling to wake up and before his nap we'll watch "yoga yoga babba" - but if it was up to him, it would be all iPad, all the time.

Anticipating his 'Temper School. We had a hard time figuring this one out, but realized he means September school. We've been walking to his new school every day to get him into the routine and explaining that he'll go there in September. It's so funny how little people piece these things together.

Thinking about going to Papa E's and riding in his white boat when Joyce and Ed get home from work. This is usually the first sentence out of his mouth when he wakes up. Clearly he thinks "trip" = going to my parents and riding my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Ed's boat. He may be slightly disappointed this weekend when he realizes "trip" = camping with mama and papa and cruising around in a canoe.

Singing "Hurry, hurry, get the firetruck, hurry, hurry, get the hose!" If you've seen Season 2, Episode 5 of Dora the Explorer, you should know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, I have not seen this episode, which makes it a bit awkward when Kale demands I sing along with him. I've heard him sing it enough that I've pieced together the tune, but it's definitely on our "need to download" list.

I am currently.....

Missing Jack Layton. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of his death - a day marked with deep sadness for many in my country, including myself, but also one that reminds us of a man who inspired a generation to embrace love, hope and optimism

Craving S'mores! Seriously, is this not the best part of camping? I'm going to eat 14 (a day) on our camping trip this weekend.

Anticipating This weekend (obvs.). Four full days of nature, family and s'mores. Is there anything better?!?

Thinking about fall wardrobes. Seriously, I am so ready for tights and cardigans. And leather boots. And scarves. Bring it on, Mother Nature.

Singing the Dora firetruck song. That I've never actually heard....

  3. I haven't linked up yet but maybe one day! I just need to remember before, you know, Thursday. Haha!

  4. I love the weekly link up, but I'd still join in, if it were once or twice a month. I would LOVE to cohost. Also, I prefer lots of different themes. I don't think my life changes enough to do the same themes every week, or even every other week.

  5. I am so grateful that my girls aren't in to electronics. They would be out of their minds, if I let them play with my iPhone, but there is only one and they just end up fighting over it (read: screaming, hitting, and biting). We've tried watching movies, shows, and cartoons on Netflix. The only thing that holds their attention is a show called Wheels on the Bus. There are only three super-annoying episodes, and the gals get very sassy when we turn it off. Thus, no tv for them. There are certainly moments, though, when I wish I could plunk them down in front of a screen to regain my sanity for a couple minutes.

  6. First answers to your burning questions:

    1. I like the option that it's weekly - because I can join in whenever I want. I think this adds some flexibility in peoples blogging schedules and add some 'flavour' to those who chose to link up that week.

    2. Yes - I want to co-host. Please!

    3. I like the rotating themes. Perhaps if you were having co-hosts join you - you could use their selected themes. It adds to the perks of co-hosting for the week.

p.s. I didn't realize that Jack passed away on Basil's birthday.

p.p.s. Map sure to draw a map of the treasure you're hiding for us this weekend while camping. I'll text you our site number.

  10. I really like this linkup. I don't link up every week, but that doesn't mean a weekly linkup is a bad idea. I personally like the rotating themes too! If you were looking for a cohost, I'd be interested. I haven't ever cohosted a blog linkup before, but I think it would be fun!
