Kale is currently......

Loving HALLOWEEN! From the dressing up, to the party at school, to the trick or treating - Kale has had such an amazing day. This morning I put him in his pumpkin costume and then he promptly asked, "Can you drive me to school now for the party, mama?" It was so cute! Then tonight we went trick or treating at a few of our neigbour's houses and he saw another kid dressed as a pumpkin and Kale was like "OH! THERE ANOTHER PUMPKIN!" We saw the kid three or four more times and Kale had the same "this-is-so-crazy-we-are-both-dressed-like-pumpkins" reaction every time. One part of halloween that Kale did not enjoy? Emptying the insides of the pumpkin out last night during the carving. He told me, "Umm...I do that another day, mama."

Looking for his white house. Did you read my post about this? Go ahead....I can wait.

Cooking with mama every night. Kale is a pretty awesome kitchen helper. I chop and he puts the veggies in a bowl, adds spices and whatnot, and stirs. And I don't mean "he's so cute, trying to be a helper." I mean, he actually helps. Have Kale help in the kitchen puts dinner on the table a lot earlier in the evening than if I had no help at all.

Catching balls! Haha...I'm sure I picked this theme last year because Kale is obsessed with playing catch lately. He gets frustrated pretty easily (a normal two year old trait or a glimpse of his developing personality?), but is so, so proud of himself when he actually catches a ball. I don't know if there is anything better than seeing your kid proud of themselves (which reminds me of THIS article).

Missing his brown socks. The problem is that he only has one pair of brown socks, but for whatever reason, he wants to wear them everyday. So he wears them on Monday when all the laundry is done, and then for the next six days, he misses his brown socks.

I am currently.....

Loving HALLOWEEN! I've never been much of a halloween person, but having Kale has changed that for me. Seeing how much fun he's had this day has been so awesome. I might even dress up with him next year (GASP!).

Looking forward to attending a conference in Toronto next week. I'll be spending two nights there - which means I'll be away from Kale for twice as long as I ever have before (I've only ever been away from overnight once....which was, errr, awesome). As much as I'll miss my little man, I could REALLY use a couple nights of uninterrupted sleep (And dinner in restaurants
Evidence of how much I hated my one night away from Kale.
Cooking so much yummy food. For the past few months we were using an online menu planning service, but for the past two weeks we've been on a clean eating kick. So we've ditched the menu planning service for now and instead looking at different food blogs for recipes like this, this and this

Catching up on my blog reading. I've got 73 posts sitting in Bloglovin' ready to be read - better get started!

Missing having more than an hour of daylight after work! Tell me daylight savings happens soon!

NEXT WEEKS THEMES:

  1. Halloween is big in our house this year as well. My 4 year old son was Mario from Mario Brothers, but would only wear the Mario hat, so we called him plain clothes Mario. He has been asking all morning "when is the next Halloween"? When I say a year, he asks "is that in a few days"?
